EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

In response to the second invitation from the Committee of Government Representatives on Participation by Civil Society, the Dominican Republic’s Comisión Empresarial para las Negociaciones Comerciales (CENI) has prepared the present document which covers the following areas: Agriculture; Competition Policy; Government Procurement; Dispute Settlement; Investments; Market Access; Services; Intellectual Property Rights; Smaller Economies; Electronic Commerce and Civil Society.

The recommendation made in each of these areas represent aspects that we should like to see incorporated into the texts currently being drafted by the different FTAA Negotiating Groups.

These proposals are the result of work carried out by groups formed by our Commission, and take as their point of reference the Ministerial Declaration of San José and the recommendations formulated by the Dominican Republic’s private sector for presentation at the 5th Americas Business Forum in Toronto, as well as previous fora.
