SEVENTH MEETING

Miami, 30 May – 2 June 2000

PRESS COMMUNIQUE

The seventh meeting of the FTAA Negotiating Group on Services (NGSV) took place in Miami, Florida from May 30th to June 2nd, 2000. Delegates from the following twenty-four countries were present: Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, St. Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela. The agenda of the meeting is attached to this Communique. The NGSV discussed all the items on its agenda and continued its work in preparing its draft text of the services chapter, as directed by the Ministers at the November 1999 Trade Ministerial meeting in Toronto. The NGSV agreed to hold its next meeting from August 15th-18th.
