PRESS COMMUNIQUÉ 
 

The Eighth Meeting of the Negotiating Group on Subsidies, Antidumping and Countervailing Duties was held in Miami on September 11-14, 2000.  

The following countries participated in the meeting: Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, U.S.A., Venezuela. 

Deliberations were carried out according to the following agenda: 

1. Adoption of the agenda.
   
   
2. Discussion of draft texts presented by the delegations. 
   

4. Discussion of options to further disciplines related to subsidies.
   
   
5. Discussion by Delegations on progress in the study on the relationship between trade and competition policies, including anti-dumping, entrusted to the Tripartite Committee.
   
   
6. Other issues

AGENDA
 

1) Adoption of the Agenda. 

2) Discussion of Draft texts for the Negotiating Group’s Chapter. 

• Delegations are invited to discuss the consolidated draft texts based on the proposed draft texts submitted by delegations on issues 1 through 23 of the list in Annex I of the Negotiating Group’s Report to the TNC.  

3) Discussion of the options to further disciplines related to subsidies. 

• Delegations are invited to comment on the approach to the options to further subsidy disciplines and to provide their thoughts on whether such disciplines should be furthered and, if so, in what areas and in what ways. 

4) Interaction with other negotiating groups 

• Delegations are invited to comment on progress in the study on the relationship between trade and competition policies, including anti-dumping, that was entrusted to the Tripartite Committee. 

5) Other Business.
