PRESS COMMUNIQUÉ 
 

The Seventh Meeting of the Negotiating Group on Subsidies, Antidumping and Countervailing Duties was held in Miami on July 31, August 1 and 2, 2000. 

The following countries participated in the meeting: Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, U.S.A., Venezuela. 

Deliberations were carried out according to the following agenda: 

1.- Adoption of the agenda.

2.- Discussion of legislation and practices of the countries.

3.- Discussion of draft texts presented by the delegations.

4.- Discussion of options to further disciplines related to subsidies.

5.- Discussion of the issue of the link between trade policy and competition, including antidumping measures.

6.- Other issues

FTAA - NEGOTIATING GROUP ON SUBSIDIES, ANTIDUMPING AND COUNTERVAILING DUTIES
 

AGENDA

1) Adoption of the Agenda. 

2) Discussion of issues submitted by Delegations. 

• Delegations are invited to submit information and comments on country practice and legislation related to items 6 and onward of Annex I to the Group’s Report to the TNC. 

3) Discussion of draft texts for the Negotiating Group’s Chapter. 

• Delegations are invited to present and comment on the draft texts that have been submitted for discussion on items 6 and onward of Annex I of the Group’s Report to the TNC, including the objectives of the proposal and their consistency with WTO Agreements. 

4) Discussion of options to further disciplines related to subsidies. 

• Delegations are invited to comment on the approach to the options to further subsidy disciplines and to provide their thoughts on whether such disciplines should be furthered and, if so, in what areas and in what ways. 

5) Interaction with other negotiating groups. 

• Delegations are invited to comment on the Draft Terms of Reference for the study on the relationship between trade and competition policies, including anti-dumping provisions, and to refer to the comments submitted by some delegations on such terms of reference. 

6) Other business.
