FTAA - NEGOTIATING GROUP ON GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT

Fifth Meeting

Miami, August 23 - 25, 1999

PRESS COMMUNIQUÉ


The fifth meeting of the Negotiating Group on Government Procurement (NGGP) took place in Miami, Florida on August 23-25, 1999. Delegates from the following twenty-two countries were present: Argentina, Bahamas, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, United States of America, Uruguay, and Venezuela. The NGGP covered all issues listed on the agenda, which is attached to this communiqué. The NGGP completed its Report to Ministers, which includes its annotated outline of the Chapter on Government Procurement, and will forward it to the Chair of the Trade Negotiations Committee. The NGGP agreed to hold its next meeting on February 9-11, 2000.
