The twelfth meeting of the Negotiating Group on Competition Policy (NGCP) was held in Panama on July 11-12, 2001. In attendance at this meeting were delegates from Argentina, Bahamas, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, United States, Uruguay and Venezuela.

During the meeting, all items on the agenda attached agenda were covered.

 

FTAA - NEGOTIATING GROUP ON COMPETITION POLICY

AGENDA

1. Presentation of Bilateral Chapter XI: Competition Policy, Free Trade Agreement Canada – Costa Rica (FTAA.ngcp/inf/22 and FTAA.ngcp/inf/23).
   
   
2. Report from the Chair on the proposals submitted by delegations on relevant aspects that could merit greater consideration based on the study on Antidumping and Regional Trade Agreements (FTAA.ngcp/inf/17/cor.2-spanish version; FTAA.ngcp/inf/17/cor.1-english version).
   
   
3. Work aimed at eliminating the brackets in article 1 of the Draft Chapter on Competition Policy and, depending on the time available, articles 3.1 through 3.4 and 4.
   
   
4. Questions 1 and 2 of document (FTAA.ngcp/w/56 and changes thereto), using as reference the Proposed Framework for questions 1 and 2 of the Proposal by Smaller Economies and Countries without Competition Law (FTAA.ngcp/inf/19)
