- The fifth meeting of the Negotiating Group on Competition Policy (NGCP) was held in Miami, on October 6, 1999.
- The meeting was attended by representatives from 17 countries of the Hemisphere:
Argentina
Bahamas
Brazil
Canada
Chile
Colombia
Costa Rica
Dominican Republic
Ecuador

- Deliberations, which were based on the attached
Agenda, focused on the preparation of the NGCP’s report to the TNC on its
progress of the fulfillment of the Group’s mandates.
- It is proposed that the sixth meeting of the Negotiating Group on Competition Policy shoulld take place in the first half of
February 2000.

- Adoption of the Agenda.
- Chair’s Report on the Trade Negotiations Committee Meeting in Cochabamba, Bolivia, from 26 to 30 July 1999.
- Submission of the Report on the Second Session of Technical Assistance held after the Fourth NGCP Meeting.
- Submission and NGCP approval of the summary of progress on the fulfilment of the Group’s mandates, first part of the NGCP
Report to the TNC and the Trade Ministers.
- Presentation of a progress report on the survey of the interaction between trade and competiton policy conducted by the Tripartite
Committee in accordance with the Terms of Reference adopted by the NGCP. Discussion on next steps.
- Discussion of Smaller Economies Study
- Other business.
