FTAA - NEGOTIATING GROUP ON AGRICULTURE

Eleventh Meeting

Panama, May 30 - 31, 2001

PRESS COMMUNIQUE

The Eleventh Meeting of the Negotiating Group on Agriculture (NGAG) took place from 30-31, May 2001 in Panama. The following delegations attended: Argentina, Bahamas, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, United States, Uruguay and Venezuela.

The NGAG has prepared the work program for the next eight meetings, which will be held from July 2001 to July 2002. The advances of the Hemispheric Data Base were presented to the delegations, in order to be familiar with the potential use for facilitating the negotiation process.

The next meeting of the FTAA Negotiating Group on Agriculture will be held in Panama from 16-20, July 2001.
