Visitor Visa 
Requirements

Citizens of the following FTAA countries require a transit visa for a maximum stay of 15 days without a fee. Likewise, a tourist visa is required with a fee for admission to Bolivia: 

  • Barbados

  • Belize

  • Dominica

  • Dominican Republic

  • El Salvador

  • Granada

  • Guatemala

  • Guyana

  • Haiti

  • Honduras

  • Jamaica

  • Mexico

  • Nicaragua

  • Panama

  • Suriname

  • Trinidad and Tobago

  • Venezuela

 

Citizens of the following FTAA countries do not require a visitor visa for admission to Bolivia: 

  • Antigua and Barbuda (for 30 days)
  • Argentina (for 90 days)
  • Bahamas (for 30 days)
  • Brazil (for 90 days)
  • Canada (for 30 days)
  • Chile (for 90 days)
  • Colombia (for 90 days)
  • Costa Rica (for 30 days) 
  • Ecuador (for 90 days)
  • Paraguay (for 90 days)
  • Peru (for 90 days)
  • St. Kitts and Nevis (for 30 days)
  • St. Vincent & Grenadines (for 30 days)
  • St. Lucia (for 30 days)
  • U.S. (for 90 days)
  • Uruguay (for 90 days)

Application for a 
Visitor Visa
A visitor seeking entry to Bolivia is required to establish to the satisfaction of the immigration officer identity and purpose of entry. All persons require a passport to enter Bolivia, except holders of an identity card issued to nationals of Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. 
  • A valid passport (recommend a minimum of six months validity beyond intended stay)
  • Visa application forms
  • 1 color passport-size photograph
  • Return airline ticket or travel itinerary as proof of onward travel

Certificate of vaccination for yellow fever may be required.

Lodgement

Application for a visitor visa must be made at the Consulate prior to seeking entry to Bolivia. 
Processing time

1-2 days for nationals requiring tourist visas. 
Multiple Entry 
Visa
Bolivia issues multiple entry visas but they are not granted automatically. 

Validity/Extension

For citizens of the countries that require visa the validity is for 30 days. For those citizens that do not require visa the maximum stay is from 30 to 90 days from the date of entry depending on the nationality. 

The duration of stay may be extended once the person is in Bolivia. For an extension, the applicant must fill in an application form and return it with the documentation (see above) to Immigration Offices in Bolivia. 

Cost of Visa 
Application
Transit visas for a maximum stay of 15 days are free of charge, for those countries listed that do not require transit visa. Processing fees depend on the nationality. 

Citizens from Mexico, Dominica, Nicaragua y Suriname are free of cost for 30 days of stay.

Citizens from the following countries must pay a US$10 fee

  • Panama: $US.10.- for 30 days
  • Granada: $US.10.- for 30 days 
  • Guatemala: $US.10 - for 30 days

Citizens from the following countries must pay a US$15 fee

  • Dominican Republic: $US.15.- for 30 days

Citizens from the following countries must pay a US$20 fee

  • Honduras: $US.20.- for 30 days

Citizens from the following countries must pay a US$25 fee

  • Barbados: $US.25.- for 30 days
  • Guyana: $US.25.- for 30 days
  • Haiti: $US.25.- for 30 days

Citizens from the following countries must pay a US$30 fee

  • Venezuela: $US.30.- for 30 days
  • Belize: $US.30.- for 30 days
  • El Salvador: $US.30.- for 30 days

Citizens from the following countries must pay a US$45 fee

  • Trinidad y Tobago: $US.45.- for 30 days

Citizens from the following countries must pay a US$50 fee

  • Jamaica: $US.50 for 30 days

Accompanying 
dependants
Family members accompanying a visitor to Bolivia must also meet all requirements for temporary entry.

All nationals travelling on business do need a visa for specific purpose (Visa de Objeto Determinado).
Specific 
Requirements
  • All the requirements mentioned above for issuing a visitors visa will be required for a business visa
  • A company letter as proof of business intentions and the dates of travel

 Business visas are valid for 1 month and a cost US$85.
