Eleventh Meeting

PRESS COMMUNIQUE

The eleventh meeting of the FTAA Negotiating Group on Intellectual Property Rights (NGIP) took place in Panama from 22 to 23 August, 2001. Delegates from the following 21 countries were present: Argentina, Bahamas, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Peru, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela. The agenda of the meeting is attached to this Communiqué. The NGIP discussed all items on its agenda. The NGIP consolidated section two, 13; and sections three, four, and five; and, section two, 3 of the NGIP draft preliminary text. The date of the next meeting of the NGIP will be agreed by the Trade Negotiations Committee at its September meeting in Managua.
