PRESS COMMUNIQUÉ
The Tenth Meeting of the FTAA Negotiating Group on
Government Procurement (NGGP) was held in Miami, Florida from November 20-22,
2000. Delegates from the following countries participated: Argentina, Bahamas,
Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El
Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru,
Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, United States and Venezuela.
The Group discussed the issues of modalities and procedures for market access
negotiations and the common understanding on statistical information systems;
continued its work on the preparation of a draft text of a Chapter on Government
Procurement of the FTAA Agreement; and successfully concluded the Report to the
Trade Negotiations Committee according to the mandates of the Toronto
Ministerial Declaration.
